Lesson 2: Selling directly and indirectly

Selling directly and indirectly

The previous lesson focused on landing page best practices, and in this lesson, you’re going to learn about the use of landing pages in two types of sales: direct and indirect.

If you want to sell products directly on a landing page, you need to take care of a few things:

  • Clear messaging (now you know all about that from the previous lesson);
  • Limiting distractions – anything might make the visitor click away.

What are some must-have elements on a sales landing page?

  • A powerful headline;
  • Product name;
  • Visuals – images,
  • videos;
  • The price;
  • The buy button;
  • Unique Selling Proposition;
  • Social Proof.

If you include them on your landing page, the customers will have the full picture of your offer and they won’t need to leave the page to finish the transaction.

What are the elements you need to remove?

  • Menus
  • Categories
  • External redirections
  • Contact tab
  • Blog
  • About us

Now, let’s move on to indirect sales and the way your clients can benefit from it.

By using redirection from one landing page to another, you can create funnels. The first landing page would not have the selling button. Instead, it would have:

  • The form to collect your visitors’ details to send them emails about offers/products/services/events and thus build a long-lasting relationship with your brand. Your ideal potential clients would like to be informed about your new products/services and special offers, and email is the best way to stay in touch.

OR

  • Just a redirect button to send your visitors to your shop/another page to firstly build the visitors’ awareness of an offer and then take them to a page where they can complete a transaction. This is often used with the promotion of a new product line, new product launch, or for a more demanding persona.
